Tips and Recommendations
All these pieces are exposed and are susceptible to different environmental factors and will lose their properties and deteriorate if they do not have the proper treatment, the agents that most damage this material are:

  • Weather agents: Refers to rain, cold, humidity and, especially, the sun. The wood that is exposed to these elements is degrading. Ultraviolet rays are the most harmful because they discolor and destroy the fibers of the material and in severe cases lead to the cracking of the cellular structure of the wood.
  • Fungi and insects: If the wood is exposed to humidity, there is a high probability that fungi will appear and can cause a lot of damage to the material. Additionally, insects, especially termites, can do a lot of damage.
  • Dust and dirt: If the wood is exposed to dust and dirt, it can create stains and if it is not cleaned regularly the stains can be fixed and recovered later it will cost more.

To prevent damage and deterioration in the Maderoterapia pieces, take into account the following recommendations:

  • Upon receiving your package, immediately remove the wrapping paper that has been covering each piece and put the pieces in a dry and cool place.

  • Avoid dropping pieces so as not to cause splits or cracks in the material.
  • Clean each time you use the pieces in any procedure and verify that the wood is free of moisture to avoid the presence of fungus.
  • Use a soft cloth, a cotton cloth or a chamois cloth, they are ideal, dampening slightly with just water or with a combination of water and baking soda, clean the piece removing any excess oils or creams, do not forget to remove all moisture.
  • Do not use abrasive cloths that are frayed or tangled, these will cause wood degradation.
  • Never use products that contain alcohol, ammonia or other strong acids or bases that could deteriorate the finish of the piece or generate substantial damage to the wood.
  • Painters (artists) brushes or other natural bristle brushes are useful for dusting between carvings or hard-to-reach areas.
  • Do not make any kind of alterations such as; sanding, sealing or varnishing etc., this can generate changes in the nature of the wood and attract external agents that can be harmful.
